Chippewa Valley Technical College Energy Education Center – LEED Gold Certified
The Energy Education Center has many renewable and sustainable features including the extensive use of windows to make maximum use of natural light to supplement the high-efficiency LED lighting. It is primarily heated and cooled by a renewable geothermal system, but wind and solar energy units also help meet the building’s overall energy needs and chilled beams in the high ceiling and in-door heating produce a natural air circulation system. Building materials were made with green principles in mind, such as increased insulation and window glazing systems to reduce the cooling load by lowering the solar heat gain.
