The La Crosse County Law Enforcement Center’s 146,000 square foot addition and remodel includes two 21,000 square foot direct supervision cell blocks, a 7,000 square foot kitchen, new pre-booking and booking area, justice sanctions office, state probation and parole offices, training classrooms, video arraignment room, and a new master control center; the existing jail was remodeled for female inmates. The expansion also included unfinished space to allow for growth in the future if needed. Motion censored lights, skylights, energy recovery units, solar hot water, and bio-retention basins were incorporated into the design to save energy.
