After nearly doubling their size after an acquisition in 2015, Freeborn-Mower quickly realized a need for a new facility to accommodate their growing cooperative. Market & Johnson was hired as the construction manager, and after 12 months the new facility was completed in May 2021. Located in Albert Lea, Minnesota, Freeborn-Mower Electric Cooperative's new facility is a single-story structure consisting of approximately 103,000 square feet. It has 26,000 square feet of office area and 77,000 square feet of garage/warehouse area. The facility includes a contained truck wash bay, crew room, dispatch room, locker rooms, and in-floor heating. Energy efficiencies include a geo-thermal system, energy efficient temperature control systems, and LED lighting.
